Current Logo

The current logo is a grayscale photo of Mount Rushmore in the foreground with an illustrated Statue of Liberty in the background and WikiTribute text at the top.

When designing the logo, I was trying to think of symbols that represent what a tribute is or examples of a tribute. Mount Rushmore and the Statue of Liberty are two of the most prominent tributes within the United States. The logo is in grayscale in keeping with the MediaWiki background and the many wiki sites run by Jimbo Wales.

I do consider WikiTribute to be a patriotic site in that I would highly encourage stories/bios about our teachers, firemen, policemen, and servicemen because they sacrifice themselves in many ways every day to make us safe, keep our kids safe and raise them to be smart, respectable citizens. Although this site is hosted in the US and in english, and despite the inherent patriotism, stories/biographies about anyone are welcome, from any country and any walk of life. I hope that the patriotic logo does not put off anyone from other parts of the world.

I like the logo as it is, but I do worry that it glorifies the site beyond what should be proper or may scare away non-citizens. If anyone has a better suggestion or some comments - please feel free to share them on the logo discussion page.
